Ambassador Erdoğan İşcan, nominated by the Republic of Turkey, was elected to the United Nations Committee against Torture for the term 2020-2023 at the elections held in Geneva today (3 October 2019) on the margins of the 17th Meeting of States Parties to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.

As an experienced and successful diplomat, Ambassador İşcan’s election to this Committee is a reflection of Turkey’s effective and fair position within the international organizations. We believe that Ambassador İşcan will make significant contributions to the Committee and we wish him success during his term.
