We welcome the holding of the elections for Governorship (Bashkan) of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia of the Republic of Moldova on 22 March 2015 in a democratic and peaceful environment. We congratulate Mrs. Irina Vlakh who was elected as Bashkan (Governor) after receiving the necessary number of votes in the first round, in line with the preferences of the people of Gagauzia.

We wish that the outcome of the elections will serve to the progress and prosperity of Gagauzia and Moldova. Turkey will continue to cooperate with the new Bashkan of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia on the basis of territorial integrity of Moldova for the welfare and interests of our kinsmen, as it has done until so far.
